I'm a 16 year old girl who just got her license in March. A week after I got my license, I rear ended another car while driving my mom's new car that is insured. Im 15, and of course im thinking about getting a drivers license. I feel bad for my parents though, cause they have to pay for the insurance, and its going to be more money than my sisters insurance cause im a guy, and it costs more for some unkown reason. So I thought I would just be a safer driver and just not get insurance. I asked my parents about it and they told me it was illigal NOT to get car insurance. so I said, well, at least if I do get in a car reck, it will be covered and they replied; you have to pay for it anyways. three questions: Why is car insurance illigal to not get? What is the point of car insurance if it doesnt help cover accident costs? And why does gieco and other companies advertise if its illigal not to get it? Thnx so much!

I'm 19 and just passed got my driving license. I live in Yorkshire (I think that me living in Yorkshire reduces the cost of insurance a bit). How much would annual insurance cost for something like a Mazda Rx-8 (2000-2006). Also if possible how much would it cost for a Volkswagen Golf GTi or a BMW E series. USAA Auto insurance extra monthly bill?

Hi we've been with USAA for over 10 yrs now for our Auto/Recreation insurance company. This month on our bill i noticed our rates went up by 35+ dollars per month. I called and they said nothing has changed in our policy. They told us because the dates our policy renewed we have an extra bill in this cycle. So they had to charge us more so we wouldn't have to pay 2 bills in 1 month. I am so confused it seems like were making an extra payment for nothing. We Pay every month on time , so I'm not sure why we have to pay an extra payment to avoid a double billing. Only thing they could tell me is that it happens to alot of policyholders once or twice in the lifetime of the policy. Seems strange to me. Thanks for your responses!

currently live in Southern California and work part-time with no medical coverage. I was recently accepted to NYU College of Dentistry and will be moving there in July. Before that though, I need to get physical & immunizations. I will definitely get medical insurance once I move out there, but my concern is before that time. Things I need for sure: Physical, TB skin test, Hep. B, and Meningitis immunizations. My question is: Should I purchase a short-term insurance coverage to get the necessary physical/immuzations done or should I just do it out-of-pocket. Also, if it is worth getting insurance for this period, would you guys please recommend couple of plans for me. ( I am 24, Male, non-smoker). THnaks in advance.

I have an idea of how to reduce my insurance for young drivers like myself, and it goes like this, I buy a motorcycle for about 10 to nothing(it could be broken I don't care), with this motorcycle I insure it for about 100, because insuring a motorcycle is a lot cheaper than insuring a car, then for a year I have no claims with this motorcycle, would this then reduce the cost of my insurance premium for a car?

In November 2007, I erroneously ran a red light and made a left turn, with the result was hit by an oncoming car. Some tow truck driver came and offered me assistance by taking the car to his body shop and have the car fixed at a much lesser cost. (the police gave me at fault ticket). The next day I called up my insurance company and reported the accident. In October 2009 I fought my ticket and my fine was reduced with 0 demerit points. I have my abstract which says AIL TO OBEY LANE LIGHTS CURRENT DEMERIT POINTS TOTAL 00. Every year my insurance company raises my auto insurance at present for 2 cars and 2 drivers we are paying over 6000 premium. The cars are Mazda 5 2010 model and Mazda protege 2001 model. the accident car was Mazda Protege. My husband is the first driver and has a clean record for more than 10 years. I would like to shop for another insurance company. How much details about the accident would they ask me? My present insurance company has marked an 'x' on conviction free dsic. Car Insurance and deductible payment?

My car window got smashed in and my windshield got cracked from vandalism. Nothing was stolen. I am taking my car in for inspection today. My question is, if my car deductible is $500, and if the resulting cost of the repair is less than the deductible, do I have to pay the deductible? It just doesn't seem correct to pay $250 each month, and then have to pay on top of that $500 for a repair that we could have saved up to pay for? Does anyone know if we have to pay the deductible if our repair cost is less than the deductible?
